Octavo, publisher's original pebbled dark green coated boards lettered in gilt on spine and front panel, all edges trimmed. A later publisher's binding, noted by Locke as a later (or remainder) issue (Spectrum of Fantasy Vol 1, p. 114). 276 pp., inserted black & white frontispiece by Sidney Sime. Several binding variants exist, Red cloth is assumed to be the priority binding, we have noted copies with the publisher's imprint at the base of the spine as "S. PAUL & Co.", also there are copies in both red and green cloth with the spine imprint as "STANLEY PAUL & Co.", as it is on this copy. We assume the shorter imprint takes priority. Small dents and scratches to covers, foxing to page edges, prelimnary and terminal leaves. A very good copy. Surprisingly, this later issue seems scarcer than the earlier issues. Near Fine.
