I, ROBOT. Signed by the Author, along with the Invitation to the Launch Party, Dec 2nd, 1950.
New York: Gnome Press, Inc, Publishers, 1950. First Edition (& 1st printing). Octavo, original red cloth stamped in black. 253 pp. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE FRONT FREE ENDPAPER: "With best regards, Isaac Asimov". An invitation card from Stephen's Book Service, New York City, addressed to Joseph Tierney of Elmhurst, Long island, is laid into this copy. The invitation reads: "An autographing party is being held at 2 to 5 pm on Satuirday, Dec. 2 at Stephen's Book Service, 45 Fourth Ave., New York City. On hand will be Isaac Asimov who will autograph copies of his new book I, Robot, $2.50, published by Gnome Press. This is the invitation to the book launch party for this title, which presumably is when this copy was signed. One tiny smudge to fore-edges of text block, else a fine bright copy, in the original colour pictorial dust jacket which shows some mild rubbing, has a 1/8th inch tear and associated tiny crease at base of rear spine hinge, and has very slight fading to the purple / red tone on the spine panel. The price corner ($2.50) is intact. An excellent copy, signed at the launch party in NYC, with the original invitation to the launch party included. Stunning. Item #314685
