Founded the small-press publisher Very Stone House in 1966 with Bill Bissett and Seymour Mayne. Winner of the 19878 Governor General's Award for his collection 'POEMS, NEW AND SELECTED'. Member of the Order of Canada, awarded the fourth annual Lieutenant Governor's Award for Literary Excellence for his lifetime contribution to literature in British Columbia in 2007. Lane spent the last portion of his life living in the Saanich area of British columbia with poet Lorna Crozier.
