¶ Edited by Philip J. Rahman and Dennis E. Weiler, with an Introduction by Richard Tierney and Selected Bibliography by D.H. Olson. Originally announced for publication by Arkham House in the 1960's, COLOSSUS was a book with a long and troubled history, and which never made it into print in its original form - whatever that was. First announced as a collection of stories, it was later described as a novel, and it remains unclear what the author and publisher intended for it. All the original manuscripts for the projected project had been returned to Wandrei, and Derleth - having passed away in 1971 - was beyond consultation. After Wandrei died in 1987, the team at Fedogan & Bremer worked towards publishing COLOSSUS, but no assembled manuscript for COLOSSUS was found amongst the authors papers. It was eventually published as a tribute to the author and the man who co-founded Arkham House with August Derleth back in 1939.
