¶ Daniel Wheeler (1771 - 1840) was a Quaker and a missionary. Wheeler went to St Petersburg as agricultural adviser to Tsar Alexander I and helped with the draining of marshes; he later spent four years sailing the South Seas as a missionary. This volume contains extracts from Wheeler's letters and journals from his time in the South Pacific.
