Pp [i]-[vii], viii-xii, [xiii: List of Illustrations], [xiv:Erratum], [1], 2-364, Frontispiece with tissue guard and eleven additional full-page black & white plates inserted throughout the text & not included in the pagination. Light spotting to the blue cloth, more pronounced along the spine gutters, some spotting to endpapers and mild foxing, predominantly to terminal leaves; hairline cracks to inner hinges but holding strong. A very good, bright copy, sound and clean. Uncommon in the original cloth. Item #313452
¶ Travel account, by ship across the Atlantic, overland from New York to San Francisco and then north into British Columbia. Four of the 24 chapters are on British Columbia, including early accounts of travel to Victoria, New Westminster, the Fraser Canyon, Georgia Straight and Nanaimo.
