First edition. Octavo, original green boards, gilt titles on spine. [320] pp. Unrecorded issue of the first edition, perhaps the first issue., with a slip laid in stating "NOVEMBER CHOICE: THE BELL by Iris Murdoch. By special arrangement with the Publisher we are dispatching overseas copies in advance of publication date. 'The Bookman' will follow when issued on Nov. 3rd." There were two known issues of the first edition of this title, one with 'Chatto & Windus' only on the title leaf (published for the trade' and one with 'Chatto & Windus and The Book Society', which were copies distributed through The Book Society. Priority is unestablished and it is assumed that they were issued simultaneously; but the slip laid into this copy of The Book Society issue shows that it was issued in advance of all other issues. jacket has one small closed tear to top edge of front panel, spine panel slightly darkened, price corner (15s Net) unclipped. A very good to near fine copy, with the scarce slip laid in, as issued.

To USA: Priority Mail is $22.50 for one book, $6.50 each additional book;
Overseas: International Air Mail Post is $35.00 for one book, $18.00 each additional book.

Oversized and sets are shipped at cost by whatever method you choose at the time of your order. Excessive shipping amounts will be quoted prior to processing an order.
For International orders, we will always use the least expensive form of Air Mail shipping, and we will notify the customer of any shipping costs which are excessive.

For time-sensitive orders or particularly valuable items, we can always ship Express at cost.
