First edition. Octavo, original red cloth titled and decorated in gold on spine and front panel. Frontispiece by Joseph Clement Coll. The second of two printings dated 1919 on the title page, with "PUTNAM" at base of spine in capital letters and an advertisement on page [434]. Cracking to inner front hinge, front free endpaper neatly replaced with matching paper, frontispiece missing. A good, sound copy in the original cloth, the spine panel slightly darkened. A colour pictorial facsimile of the front panel of the original dust jacket has been affixed to the front paste-down.


The author's first book. Lost Race: a doorway in the South Seas leads to a vast subterranean civilization, older than recorded time. There is conflict between the "Shining One" and her legions of worshippers, and the devotees of the "Silent Ones".

To USA: Priority Mail is $22.50 for one book, $6.50 each additional book;
Overseas: International Air Mail Post is $35.00 for one book, $18.00 each additional book.

Oversized and sets are shipped at cost by whatever method you choose at the time of your order. Excessive shipping amounts will be quoted prior to processing an order.
For International orders, we will always use the least expensive form of Air Mail shipping, and we will notify the customer of any shipping costs which are excessive.

For time-sensitive orders or particularly valuable items, we can always ship Express at cost.
