Description

First Edition. Octavo. Publisher's maroon cloth with the title and "Festina Lente" coat of arms in gilt on the front cover, gilt titles on spine panel. 184 pages. Frontispiece portrait of Lord Dunsany and fifteen other black and white plates, publisher's device on title page. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "Mar 1917 / To my dear friend Stuart Walker / who has done much for Dunsany, more for the drama in America, / and most of all for 'the least of / these' / Edward Hale Bierstadt." Beneath the inscription Dunsany has signed the book with his quill pen: "Counter signed / Dunsany". Illustrated bookplate of Stuart Walker [by David Stuart Walker] on front pastedown. Spine panel dull, boards a trifle rubbed, a very good copy. An excellent associational copy: Stuart Walker produced many plays for Dunsany in America; one section of the book prints some correspondence between Walker and Dunsany.
