Augsberg: Johann Schüssler, 1470. A large folio leaf from the 1470 edition of Flavius Josephus' De Antiquitate Judaica, De Bello Judaico, printed in Augsburg Germany by Johann Schüssler. The leaf measures 395 x 285 mm (15 ¾ x 11 ¼ inches) printed in double columns, 50 lines in roman type. Rubricated paragraph marks. Page number (3) in ink to upper edge of verso; light browning. 80 mm (3-inch) closed tear to upper inner margin, with mild loss; very old (contemporary?) ink marginalia to outer margin on verso. ¶ Flavius Josephus [c. AD 37 – c. 100] was a Roman–Jewish historian and military leader. This is a leaf from the 1470 edition of his work 'Antiquities of the Jews', originally composed circa 94 A.D.; translated into Latin from the original Greek by Rufinus Aquileiensis.
