Publisher's original maroon cloth with the title and "Festina Lente" coat of arms in gold on the front cover, spine panel lettered in gold. 184 pages. Frontispiece portrait of Dunsany with tissue guard and fifteen additional black & white plates inserted throughout the text. Inscribed by Bierstadt on the front free endpaper: "Mar 1917 / To my dear friend Stuart Walker / who has done much for Dunsany, / more for the drama in America, / and most of all for "the least of these" / Edward Hale Bierstadt." Beneath the inscription Dunsany has boldly signed the book with his quill pen: "Countersigned / Dunsany". With Stuart Walker's own illustrated bookplate [done by himself] depicting a fantasy scene - Pierrot with peacock in a garden addressing the God Pan, embellished with fairies, mushrooms, spiderwebs, quill pens in inkwells, with a finely depicted Satyr's head beneath - on front pastedown. Spine panel lightly tanned and spine lettering dull, boards a trifle rubbed; Very Good Indeed. Item #313019
