¶ A genuinely eerie ghost story in the Victorian tradition. Basis for several film, radio and television adaptations, as well as having been adapted for the stage by Stephen Mallatratt in 1987. Popularity and media adaptations aside, this is a superbly told (and terrifying) ghost story.
