SHAPES IN THE FIRE. Being a Mid-winter-Night's Entertainment in Two Parts and an Interlude. The Bibliographer's Copy.
London: John Lane, Vigo St. 1896. First Edition. Hardcover. First edition, second issue. Octavo, original plain brown cloth, spine titled in brown with brown rules boxes. Pictorial title page signed "P.W." [Paten Wilson]. 324 pp. Issued as a volume in the publisher's Keynotes Series. Formerly, M.P. Shiel bibliographer Reynold Morse's copy, with his "Ex-Libris RM" bookplate on the front paste-down. This second issue is in plain cloth (as opposed to the pictorial cloth of the first issue); the overall book size is slightly smaller and it was issued without the preliminary blank leaf and the contents leaf - likely a remainder issue of unsold sheets bound up with new preliminaries. Endpapers lightly tanned but overall a near-fine copy. Near Fine. Item #312584
