¶ In the early 1970’s - at a time when the revival of contemporary Witchcraft in America was still in it’s infancy, Herman Slater was a the proprietor of a well-known occult bookstore “The Warlock Shop”, in Brooklyn Heights. He later moved the shop to Chelsea, and both shops were central hubs for information about the occult and meeting places for many newly emerging traditions of contemporary Witchcraft. Copies of the original issue of "Pagan Rituals", one of the first books published in the 1970's 'witchcraft revival', are rare. Issued by Slater under the imprint "Earth Religious Supplies, 300 Henry Street, Brooklyn, NY" - the original location of THE WARLOCK SHOP. Worldcat lists only one copy of this true first edition in institutional Libraries Woldwide, at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. The book was later reprinted many times by Samuel Weiser, but the first edition is a rarity.
