New York: The Citadel Press, . First Paperback edition. Octavo, original pictorial wrappers, outer wrappers French-Folded with flaps (trade paper format). 332 pp. This is a very early, or the first printing, in rather unusual format, the book is actually in plain white wrappers with what appears to be a dust jacket glued down to the spine panel, with the flaps wrapped around the plain outer wrappers, the spine looks 'wrinkly' but that is because it is glued directly onto the sewn signatures of the text block. The rear flap states "Jacket design by Muriel Nasser based on an engraving by Brueghel the Elder". This is a publisher's binding, not some made-up rebind. Light wear at extremities, light fading to spine, a very good copy, the front flap priced at $3.00 (intact). Item #312309
¶ "The most important work on medieval superstition yet written" - Encyclopedia Brittanica (Jacket blurb).
