London: Greening & Co. Ltd., 1907. First Edition. Octavo, original purple cloth lettered in gilt on spine, lettered and ruled in gilt on front panel. 314 pp. Light browning to endpapers, old ink name on front free endpaper and below this an old (1960's?) price ticket from G. Ken Chapman Ltd tipped on by the corer (this is removable but I find it endearing, the price was £15, which was an awful lot back in the day). A few faint, old tape ghosts on endpapers - likely from some older form of plastic book cover protector - faint mottling to front board and very light fading to spine panel (much less so then would be normal for such a fragile coloured book cloth). Overall, a very good, bright copy. Item #312045
¶ The author's fourth published book, following FOR SATAN'S SAKE (1904) and THE UNKNOWN DEPTHS (1905) and JENNIE BARLOWE, ADVENTURESS (1906). Adventure novel set in the Middle East, Bleiler codes this as a witchcraft novel.
