¶ Subjects include The Thirteen Society, the Hell Fire Club, The Grey Sisters, The Black Brothers, Chinese Secret Societies and Black Magic, The Mafia, Camorra and Carbonari Societies, Leopard and Panther People, Tree Cults, The Suicide Society, Rosicrucians, Thugs, Gorgons and Mummy Worship. Aleister Crowley is mentioned (briefly) on p. 65, in the Chapter titled 'Black Magic': "I will pass over Mr. Alistair Crowley (sic), with a brief allusion, because I never saw anything in his demonstrations that struck me as being in the least degree serious or genuinely mystical. What I saw in his studio, in Chelsea, was a trifle spectacular and dramatic, but quite harmless; whereas what I have seen and heard elsewhere, not only in London but in Paris and Pennsylvania, has not always been harmless."
