Original formed to fill the gap left after August Derleth's THE ARKHAM COLLECTOR (Arkaham House, 1967 - 1971) ceased publication upon Derleth's death. WHISPERS magazine was originally to be titled WHISPERS FROM ARKHAM but the title was shortened to the much simpler WHISPERS. A semi-prozine with the look and feel of a real professional magazine; Whispers was at the forefront of Weird & Supernatural Fiction and Artwork during its long run, publishing works by Manly Wade Wellman, Fritz Leiber, Robert Bloch, Ramsey Campbell, Karl Edward Wagner, Stephen King (with a Special Issue), etc; along with outstanding artwork by lee Brown Coye, Stephen Fabian, Tim Kirk, Dennis Tiani, Jim Pitts, Frank Utpatel, John Stewart, Adam Koszowski and many others.
