London: Arthur Barker Limited. . . First Edition, First Impression. Hardcover. Tall octavo, original green cloth, spine titled and decorated in gilt. 382 pp. WITH AN INSCRIBED PRESENTATION FROM THE AUTHOR TO RONALD FRASER ON THE FRONT FREE ENDPAPER: "Ronald Fraser / to whom memory of / the Light had a / sweet familiarity. / from / Joan Grant / 23rd October 1937". Minor splitting of cloth at inner front hinge, spine slightly leaned; a very good sound copy in a good only example of the original printed dust jacket, scuffed, faded at spine, heavily chipped at spine head and with a significant amount of old tape repair. An important inscription to Arthur Ronald Fraser (1888-1974), an author whose writing mostly uses fantasy or science-fictional devices, and who, on retirement, was involved in the New Age movement, running a healing and meditation centre with his partner Ingrid from a temple attached to his home. Very good in dust jacket. Item #311613
¶ The author's first book, an historical novel set in Ancient Egypt. What is not revealed is that the author claimed to have recalled the events in Winged Pharaoh while in a hypnotic or trance-like state, dictating piecemeal a lifetime that she believed herself to have lived - a "previous life autobiography". The book is still considered a cult classic.
