London: Williams and Norgate Ltd, Great Russell Street. . First Edition, First Impression. Hardcover. Octavo, original rough-weave brown cloth, gilt titles on spine, top page edges stained black. 291 pp., 111 + illustrations, mostly photographic but with some sketches & reproductions of handwriting by Lawrence. Very neat ink name on front paste-down (under the dust jacket flap), a virtually fine copy in a fine dust jacket that has a faint "work-up" between the "T." and "E." of the auhor's name on the front panel. A "work-up" is a piece of spacing material between the type that has "worked up" to type height, so it gets inked & prints. Despite this, a lovely copy. First edition with page "16" mis-numbered as "6", price "10s 6d" at bottom of front flap (the second edition has "12s 6d") and "FIRST PUBLISHED IN GREAT BRITAIN IN 1939" stated on copyright page. Fine in Dust Jacket. Item #311582
