¶ An early Lovecraft appearance in a rare amateur journal. HPL was 27 years old at the time and was acting President of the United Amateur Press Association; he had just started having his works of fiction published, with THE ALCHEMIST appearing in the November 1916 issue of The United Amateur. To put this in context, his first appearance in WEIRD TALES was in 1923, 5 years after his appearance here. See Joshi, H.P. LOVECRAFT: An Annotated Bibliography, Item 1-B-ii-215.
