London: Jonathan Cape and The Medici Society Ltd., 1928. First Trade Edition. Hardcover. Crown quarto, bound in the publisher's brick red cloth heavily decorated in gilt on the front panel, the spine decoratively titled in gilt, top edges gilt. 637 pp, Illustrated Title page & with 24 inserted colour plates by Flint. Small Vancouver BC Bookseller's ticket on inner rear cover, a near fine, bright copy, quite lovely, in the original printed dust wrapper with onlaid colour plate on the front panel. The jacket is a bit chipped and worn at the extremities, and has a 2-inch closed tear at the top edge of the rear panel near the spine, there is a touch of staining to the lower edge of the front panel (mostly internal, and with no corresponding stains to the binding); overall it is a very good example of the scarce pictorial jacket. Certainly, uncommon in the jacket. A very nice copy of a very attractive book. Very Good in Dust Jacket. Item #311125
¶ Originally issued with these Illustrations in a 3 volume set issued by the Medici Society / Philip Lee Warner in their Riccardi Press Book Series, this is the first one-volume edition.
