¶ The the first separate publication of these prose poems that originally appeared in BEYOND THE WALL OF SLEEP [Arkham House, 1944]. NB: There is no difference between the
26 lettered and the numbered copies, Squires reserved the 26 lettered copies to give out to friends and to help promote his press. It should be noted that while it was possible for subscribers to the series to purchase boxes for their sets, very, very few would have been commissioned; it should also be noted that despite Squire's fabulous contribution to the art of Specialty Small Press Publishing and his promotion of the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Clark Ashton Smith (amongst others), these are the only true first editions by H.P. Lovecraft which Squires published.
