The first appearance in print of this lengthy review of Eliphas Levi's DOGME ET RITUEL DE LA HAUTE MAGIE which was published in Paris, 1854-56. The article occupies pp 278-287 of the September issue, it is signed F.M.F.S. Binding worn at edges, small split to front hinge repaired, a good to very good, sound copy. Item #310807

¶ A long analysis of Eliphas Levi's work on Ritual Magic, with mention of Bulwer Lytton, etc, published under the pseudonym "F.M.F.S.". This volume also contains Chapters 26 to 49 of J. Sheridan Le Fanu's A LOST NAME. Levi's book was not translated into English until 1896 when Arthur Edward Waite issued it as TRANSCENDENTAL MAGIC, Its Doctrine and Ritual.
