The true first edition the "Inner Edition" (Private Initiates Edition) of "The Draconian Grimoire" - said by many to be the most important magical text of the late twentieth century. The "Inner Edition" was limited to only 10 numbered copies, for members of the inner circle of the Cultus Sabbati. This copy is number 2, and is not only signed by Chumbley in a semi-sigilised form of his magical name (Alogos Dhu'l-qarnen Khidir), but by all four of the recipients of the acknowledgments - the inner-circle of the group at the time. The "Inner Edition" has a short additional chapter, consisting of three illustrations and their headings, that was omitted from the "Outer Edition" - "The Dragon Book of Essex" - which was published some 18 years later. This copy is from the collection of Soror Pasht Akhti and Frater Anshar, leading members of the original Cultus Sabbati with Andrew Chumbley. They were also founder members of "the Column," described by Ben Fernee of Caduceus Books as "the inner group which developed and worked the system of rituals that formed the Dragon Book of Essex." Their remarkable collection was dispersed by Ben in 2015. "The Draconian Grimoire" is sold with a Certificate of Provenance signed by Ben, and the superb, colour-illustrated catalogue of the collection that accompanied the item - marked with a stamp on the listing, to indicate that the catalogue accompanied this specific item. The volumes have some light thumbing to the edges - they have obviously been used - but are otherwise Fine. Catalogue and solander cases in Fine condition. Item #310681
¶ Ben Fernee of Caduceus Books has described it in more detail thus: this "original version, ... includes some material that was not included in the public edition of the third Consummation of the Rite of the Draconian Oracle: an enunciation preceeding the Formulae of the Stellar Transvocation; a significant footnote concerning the Backwards Prayer of the Intercessor; an axiom preceeding the "Opening the Mouth of Enchantment" and some small symbols in that section: two different systems of attributions of components of the Dragon-Books system to the cardinal and inter-cardinal points: Encheirogramma, a brief chapter being three exquisitely detailed illustrations by Soror Pasht Akhti of Andrew's hands in magical gestures. There is also some variant wording in the Telluric Spells of the Arcana of Hu, possibly recording an alternate earlier name for one of the magical tools. Three of the sigils in the Rite of Bha - The Rite of the Dragon's Horns are inverted in the reprint, where another is somewhat variant and another lacks the direction for orientation. This edition gives both, very different, methods of working ritually with the Dragon's Horns text, both the earlier version found in preceding typescripts, and also the later version which appears alone in the outer edition more recently published. This section also has slightly variant wording. There is also variation in some of the symbols that accompany the chapter headings."
