Description

Octavo, original pebbled brown cloth titled in gilt on spine panel - the first issue binding. 179 pp. Signed by the author on the title page "John Taine, 7 Jan 1949". The signature is in ball-point pen and the ink is running out towards the end of the date, but it certainly is genuine, and we have encountered other copies of this title signed on the same date. A fine copy in a very good dust jacket, a little rubbed and dusty, tiny chip at base of spine and one short closed tear to bottom edge of front panel. ¶ Two novellas, the title story concerns a spate of mysterious black spheres containing miniature writing found in quantity at the outbreak of World War Seven; "truly Stapledonian" according to Forrest J. Ackerman, who also called the second tale, Black Goldfish, "the weakest thing Taine has ever done".

Oversized and sets are shipped at cost by whatever method you choose at the time of your order. Excessive shipping amounts will be quoted prior to processing an order.
For International orders, we will always use the least expensive form of Air Mail shipping, and we will notify the customer of any shipping costs which are excessive.

For time-sensitive orders or particularly valuable items, we can always ship Express at cost.
