Second edition, reprinted with new material. First published by the Catholic Truth Society in 1893. Octavo, original blue cloth titled and decorated in black & gilt. 274 pp. A fine copy. ¶ Collection of four short stories, all fantasy and supernatural: "The House of Shadows"; "Lost Artie"; "The Mystery of Drerewater"; & "St. Anthony's Flask". The final story is a short novel and is subtitled "A Fresh Reading in Hoffmann", and is a retelling of "The Devil's Elixir". This new edition prints a 5pp foreword by the author, dated 1901, in which he gives a complete history of the printing of the stories within. See Locke, A SPECTRUM OF FANTASY Vol One (1980).

To USA: Priority Mail is $15.50 for one book, $6.50 each additional book;
Overseas: International Air Mail Post is $35.00 for one book, $18.00 each additional book.

Oversized and sets are shipped at cost by whatever method you choose at the time of your order. Excessive shipping amounts will be quoted prior to processing an order.
For International orders, we will always use the least expensive form of Air Mail shipping, and we will notify the customer of any shipping costs which are excessive.

For time-sensitive orders or particularly valuable items, we can always ship Express at cost.

Refunds 

We are members in good standing of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of Canada and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers, and as such we guarantee the authenticity of all the material which we offer for sale. We will graciously accept returns of merchandise for any reason, provided that we are informed of the return within 10 days of receipt. All our books are collated and guaranteed to be complete as issued unless otherwise stated.
