Anonymous [after William Shakespeare]. KING LEAR; Or, The Undutiful Children. A Tale, In Twelve Chapters. London: Bull, Simmons & Co., Publishers and Librarians, 9, Wigmore Street, Cavendish Square. 1870. 1st printing of this edition. Square 12mo, 61 pp., original dark blue cloth decorated in black, gold and blind, gold titles on front panel. A retelling in novel form of the tale of King Lear. The title leaf bears the quote "Think ye see / The very p ersons of our noble story / As they were living", but attributing it in error to "Prologue to Henry III", this would be Shakespeare's The Life of King Henry The Eighth. Some soiling to first few leaves of text; previous owner's signature dated 1893 on front endpaper, hinges cracking, light wear to spine tips and a few small marks to the cloth.
